Rarity tiers
The five tiers, the referral count each one requires, and the behaviour that distinguishes them.
Tier is assigned at hatch from your cumulative recorded referral count and never changes afterwards. It is a property of the Pal, not of your account, so selling a Legendary Pal does not lower the tier of anything else you hold.
The tiers
| Pal | Tier | Referrals required | Behaviour |
|---|---|---|---|
| Common | 1 | Displays one coat trait and one garment trait. | |
| Rare | 5 | Displays a garment trait drawn from the restricted palette. | |
| Epic | 15 | Displays the indoor eyewear trait. | |
| Legendary | 50 | Displays a headwear trait and an accessory trait together. | |
| Mythic | — | Displays the feathered cap trait. Not produced by referral. |
The referral figure is the cumulative count at the moment the Pal hatches. Your first recorded referral produces a Common Pal, your fifth produces a Rare one, and every referral between the fifth and the fifteenth produces a Rare one as well.
How the threshold is read
A Pal takes the highest tier whose threshold your cumulative count has reached. The count only moves forwards, so a Pal is never assigned a tier lower than one you have already reached.
Referrals that are discarded after 30 pending days do not count towards the cumulative figure, because they were never recorded.
Mythic
Mythic Pals are not produced by referral at any count. They hatch only from seasonal and event drops, and the supply for each drop is fixed before the window opens.
A Mythic Pal displays the feathered cap trait, which is not available to any other tier and is not drawn during ordinary generation. See Seasonal and limited drops.
What tier affects
Tier controls two things: which trait options are available at hatch, and which label appears on the card. It does not affect the maturity window, listing fees, playdate eligibility, or leaderboard position.
Price is not a function of tier. It is set by whoever is selling. See Price discovery.
