Accessories

What accessories are, how they differ from traits, and what happens to them when a Pal changes hands.

An accessory is an item you buy with Treats and attach to a Pal. It is the only part of a Pal's appearance you choose.

How they differ from traits

Traits are generated at hatch and are permanent. Accessories are bought, attached, detached, and moved freely.

An accessory is held by your account, not by the Pal. Detaching one returns it to your inventory, where it stays until you attach it to something else.

Attaching

A Pal holds one accessory at a time. Attaching a second replaces the first, which returns to your inventory.

Attaching and detaching are both free and both immediate. There is no limit on how often you do either.

A Pal inside its maturity window can carry an accessory. The restriction during that period is on transfer, not on appearance.

The accessory slot and the accessory trait

These are two different things, and it is worth being precise about which one is meant.

The accessory trait is one of the five generated categories described in Traits and generation. It is drawn at hatch and cannot be changed.

The accessory slot holds the item you attached. A Pal can carry both, one, or neither, and they are displayed together.

Transfers

Accessories are never sold or traded with a Pal. When you list a Pal, any attached accessory is returned to your inventory automatically, and the same happens when you name the Pal in a trade offer.

A buyer receives the Pal exactly as it was generated, with whatever accessory they choose to attach afterwards.

Availability

Standing accessories are always available. Seasonal accessories are sold only during a drop window and are not reissued afterwards, though they can be reattached indefinitely once bought.

Costs are listed on Spending Treats.
