Treats are not money
The status of Treats, stated in full.
This page sets out the status of Treats. It is the operative statement on the subject, and where any other description of Treats within this documentation or within the programme interface appears to conflict with it, this page governs.
Status
Treats are a unit of account maintained by the programme for the sole purpose of pricing Pals and the items described in Spending Treats, and they exist only as an entry in the programme's own records; they are not money, are not a currency of any kind, are not a deposit, are not a security, are not a commodity, are not a payment instrument, and are not a claim of any description against the operator of the programme or against any other person.
Treats have no cash value, no redemption value, and no relationship to any currency, whether fiat, digital, or otherwise denominated; no exchange rate between Treats and any currency exists, has ever existed, or is contemplated; and the numeric amounts attached to Treats throughout this documentation are internal figures chosen for the operation of the programme and do not represent, approximate, or reference any monetary amount.
What cannot be done with Treats
Treats cannot be purchased with money or with anything else of value, cannot be sold, cannot be exchanged for money or for any other thing of value, cannot be withdrawn, cannot be redeemed, cannot be transferred between accounts other than through the transactions expressly described in this documentation, cannot be pledged, assigned, or used as collateral, and cannot be inherited or otherwise transferred on the death or incapacity of a holder.
No holder acquires any proprietary interest in Treats, and no balance of Treats constitutes property, an asset, or a thing capable of being valued for any purpose outside the programme.
Adjustments and discontinuation
The operator may at any time and without notice adjust the amounts credited or charged under Earning Treats and Spending Treats, adjust or remove any balance in order to correct an error or to address conduct that breaches the terms of the programme, or discontinue Treats entirely, and no such action gives rise to any entitlement to compensation, restitution, or any other remedy.
Where Treats are discontinued, balances are discarded without replacement and without any obligation on the operator to provide anything in their place.
Pals
Nothing in this page should be read to imply that Pals occupy a different position. A Pal is a record within the programme, it is not property, it confers no rights beyond its display and transfer within the programme as described in this documentation, and the statements made above about Treats apply to Pals in the same terms and with the same effect.
