Glossary
Terms used across the documentation, with the meaning each one carries here.
Where a term has a general meaning and a Loxley meaning, the Loxley meaning is given.
- Accessory
- An item bought with Treats and attached to a Pal. Accessories can be removed. Traits cannot.
- Collection
- Every Pal held by one account, including Pals currently listed for sale.
- Drop
- A bounded period during which an additional trait set is available to newly hatched Pals.
- Generation
- The process that selects a Pal's traits at hatch. See Traits and generation.
- Hatch
- The moment a Pal is created. A Pal hatches once and the hatch date does not change.
- Holder
- The account a Pal currently belongs to.
- Listing
- An offer to sell a Pal at a stated price in Treats, visible to all holders until it is bought, expires, or is cancelled.
- Maturity window
- The seven days after hatching during which a Pal cannot be listed or traded.
- Permutation
- One possible combination of traits. Roughly 337,000 permutations exist outside drop periods.
- Playdate
- A paid pairing of two Pals that may produce a variant. See Playdates and variants.
- Provenance
- The list of accounts a Pal has belonged to, shown in order, on the Pal's detail view.
- Streak
- Consecutive calendar weeks in which you recorded at least one referral.
- Tier
- One of five rarity bands assigned at hatch. See Rarity tiers.
- Trade
- A direct exchange agreed between two holders, settled without a listing.
- Variant
- A Pal produced by a playdate rather than by a referral. Variants carry a variant marker and cannot themselves take part in playdates.
