Anatomy of a Pal

Every field a Pal carries, what sets it, and whether it can change.

A Pal is a record with nine fields. This page lists all of them. If a property is not here, a Pal does not have it.

Identifier

Each Pal is assigned the next number in a single sequence that runs across the whole programme. Identifiers are never reused, including for Pals involved in reversed transactions.

The identifier is shown on the detail view and in every listing. Two Pals with identical traits are still distinguishable by it.

Traits

Traits are stored as one selection per category. A Pal always has a coat and an expression; headwear and accessory traits may be empty.

The trait set is the whole of a Pal's appearance. There is no hidden property, no score, and no attribute that affects anything other than how the Pal is drawn.

Provenance

Provenance is the ordered list of accounts that have held the Pal, with the date of each transfer. It grows by one entry each time the Pal changes hands and is never edited or truncated.

Holders are shown by display name. An account with no display name appears as its account number.

Variant and drop markers

A Pal produced by a playdate carries a variant marker. A Pal hatched during a drop window carries the marker for that drop. Both are set at hatch and both are permanent.

A Pal can carry neither marker, one, or both.
