Loxley

What is Loxley

An overview of the referral companion programme and the three things it does.

Fifteen Pals and two blooms standing in a row

Loxley is a referral programme with a companion attached. When someone you invite opens an account, the programme records the referral and issues you one Pal: a small resident that lives in your collection, carries a fixed set of traits, and can be traded with other holders.

Everything else in this documentation describes one of three things — how a referral is recorded, how a Pal is generated, or how a Pal changes hands.

How the programme works

You send your referral link to someone who does not have an account. When they finish opening one, the referral is recorded against your account and a Pal hatches immediately.

The Pal's appearance is generated at that moment from your referral count and a seed derived from the referral itself. Its traits are fixed from then on. You can rename a Pal and you can add accessories to it, but you cannot change what it is.

Seven days after hatching, the Pal becomes listable. From that point you can sell it on the marketplace, trade it directly with another holder, or keep it. Most holders keep them.

What Loxley is not

Loxley is not an account, a wallet, or a financial product. Treats are the internal unit used to price Pals; they have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for money, securities, or anything else of value. Pals are not assets and confer no rights beyond their display within the programme.

The full position is set out in Treats are not money and Disclosures. Read both before you sell anything.

Where to start

If you have not made a referral yet, begin with Your first referral.

If you have Pals already and want to understand what you are looking at, read Anatomy of a Pal and Reading your collection.

If you intend to trade, read The seven-day maturity window first. It is the rule holders most often discover too late.
